Bethlehem’s church building turns 150 years old in June 2022
Bethlehem Congregation, formed in 1860, worshipped in various locations until this church was constructed in 1872. On Sunday 23 June 1872, the Congregation marched from its old place of worship in Waymouth Street, Light Square, to dedicate this new building. Sophie Sudholz handed the key of the church to her father on a cushion. Pastor Oster was then handed the key and opened the door. The service began at 10 am and finished at 1 pm. We give thanks to God for having inspired the 25 families with the faith and willingness to build this beautiful church.
